Color portraits and or photographs of people

Javier, you take the kind of pictures that I wish I was brave enough to take :D I walk along the street with lots of "clicks" going off in my head, but I just don't feel able to do it myself:eek: You must have a really easy going personality and presence about you. Love looking at what you see :)

Thank you. I am very easy going, atleast that is what I have been told. In truth, it is more confidence. Look at people and smile while clicking ;-)

Love this one! For some reason I think the guy walking his bike across the street while talking on his phone adds immeasurably to this shot - just sort of adds to the randomness of the elements but somehow pulls them together also. And I like the little side glance from the gal in the shot too. I have to admit I don't always love the shots with the subjects looking right into the camera - they too often don't look pleased to be having their pictures taken and those can feel somewhat invasive. But the little sideways glance of recognition just adds some life and interaction to the scene. All elements work for me in this one!

Thanks Ray. That is one of my all time favs. As far as shooting people looking at me or the cam, I feel the opposite. I don't sneak pictures and am very obvious. To be honest, 90% of the time my experiences are very positive. I will admit that at times I like to share the not so positive moments as to add a little drama. but if it offends, I have no problem in posting up happy pics.
Thanks again, Javier :)

I went out shooting in the rain Yesterday and this is some of what I got. :)

Nothing about it offends in the least - just a matter of personal taste in that I prefer candids where the photographer isn't involved in the scene (other than as an observer) to the sort of informal portraits where the photographer becomes part of the focus, which happens when the subjects are looking right at (and reacting to) him or her. Some of those work brilliantly by any standard and most of them work for what you're trying to do - I just usually prefer the type of shot where the photographer is less obviously involved. You do that kind of shot well too and they tend to be my favorites of the stuff you shoot!

Hey, Merry Christmas! I'm probably away from the forum for a couple of days as of later this morning...

Ray, love the pumpkin head guitarist!

Stratokaster, this portrait of your wife is so real. I feel as though it is I who am looking at her, not me looking at a photograph that you took. The color looks absolutely perfect! Very impressive and realistic image - and I think a very lovely portrait. I wouldn't have a clue that the weather was truly bad. It does look cold and the blue works beautifully with that.;)

BBW, thank you very much! It's not really cold (about 5 degrees centigrade) but that horrible semi-fog/semi-rain thing (like very small drops of water suspended in the air) is killing me. Also earlier we had quite a bit of snow which is now melting and creating all kind of problems.

The colors are heavily altered in Lightroom. Original colors were just too pinkish for my taste :)
