Hi BB
If the Fuji has an M mount get it - if it has an OVF as well that's great - BUT you can buy a really good used M8 for max US $2000 - so why bother with the X100 - and if you do not like the M8, (which you won't - well you may as it can be frustrating - just give it time and say your prays every night - what you get with it is something special once in a while, if you are normal - if you are an expert I'm sure that you can make it "sing"). If you don't like the M8 you can sell it a few months later for what you paid
scale focusing has always been great on Ms - stick it at f8 and infinity and that is all you need - if that's what you want - but buy some good, ($NIL depreciating), glass and take your time and no probs with focusing - don't "expense" the glass, treat them as assets and then they cost you nothing
OK - you (will/may) need another cam as well as psychologically you (may) expect the worse from Leica digitals, (because of all the false rumours) - but the negatives are really overdone, (what have I said), - I use mine all the time now in preference to anything - if it breaks I'll have it repaired and I feel happy that if I buy a lens for it I will not "second guess" my purchase - manual focusing really is (can be) as fast as AF
Kate, (my daughter, not yours), is in gainful employment - previously, (I almost said "in 24 hours" as we have been watching Jack), I called the "shots" - but now she buys her own "toys" and she is always (many) steps ahead of me.
I did however train her it her "accountancy" traits as she did work "with" me for two years before "hitting" the real world
I may as well buy her iphone as if I don't she will get the money from me in another way
