B&W Black & White, monotone and sepia

Aha, I thought it was at your complex - though I figured it wasn't at place. It would be really great if you could take a picture of the people sitting there with their electrical box friends. Of course, this may be the only place to sit outside, so they've done the best with what they have.

Nice photo of Ephesus. It was raining the day we went in 2007.

Very nice, pdh - if this had been taken here in the states, I might think this was an Indian mound. I like the highlights and the lichen on the trees - along with what looks to be flowers in amongst them.

Nic,
There's something about this picture that suggests it might not have been taken in Australia, can't quite put my finger on it at the moment. Like it a lot BTW.

Barrie

Hi Barrie, you're right - there is nothing like this in Australia. Deirdre got it right, this is part of the ruins of Ephesus (Efes) on the west coast of Turkey. Actually Deirdre, if you still remember much of the layout this was taken at the high end of the colonnade street, just up from the terrace houses. It was cloudy to overcast when I was there but the rain held off. I found some photos on flickr the other day taken by someone who was there in October last year (also with a Ricoh CX1!). They said it started snowing just as they were leaving!

Darn it! I keep missing new posts!

Nic, I'd love to know more about this scene - where is it and there's got to be a story here?

Javier, this is such a classic - we've got two young men checking out the scenery. ;-) Great catch!

Hi BB,

This was taken from the visitor centre at Wadi Rum in Jordan, the last stop before you're let loose into the desert in 4WDs. This is Lawrence of Arabia country - the rocky outcrop you can see in the distance is T.E. Lawrence's Pillars of Wisdom.

When I've got some more of these holiday photos together I might put some them into their own thread. My Canon 50D was my main camera on this trip and I just carried the Ricoh with me as a backup when I didn't want to use the SLR, but the Ricoh actually did a lot better than I thought it might.
