Black and white, or monochrome photos of people

I like the intensity, Peter. What I mean is not that the portrait is intense in the way it feels, but that the highlights are really bright...and think that the depth of field you've chosen has worked out really well for this portrait in black and white.

Thanks BB. Anton (real name) is in shade and the sun is picking up the background and the top of Anton's hair. I originally processed this in colour but the background colours were too strong and distracted from the main subject. Black and white is a great leveller in situations like that.
 
James, you certainly know a lot more about skateboards than I do. There is a shop across the street from the picture that sells Vanguards...

BB, Thanks, I had underexposed the image and headed in this direction, even ended up adding extra grain.

I saw it...went over there earlier after I'd posted. Although it is still a good image in color, I'm with you 100% on the impact of the same photograph in black and white. Thank you, Karen!
