    Bugs Show 'Insect'

Well as I said its not taken with a compact and I don't think it would be easy to focus at that magnification with an evf. As I don't have a macro lens for 43rds I have yet to try. Geoff

Rawker Software - get bigger files on m4/3!

Tested again and all my NX files are the same at 40.1. Then checked Rawker preferences and changed to 'always use DCRaw' and the file size increased to 41.9. This must be what you are using and it gives a very different result with lower contrast, detail closer to LR and rather inaccurate...

    Straps Wrist Straps

Almost essential for compacts if carrying in the hand for any length of time I find, I use a Gordy as shown here, good quality and fair price. I went for the O ring as I thought is offered more security but I'm sure the string is fine especially on smaller lighter cameras.

Rawker Software - get bigger files on m4/3!

Very interesting converter, on my NX10 the files are the same size but high iso files have much less noise than in LR. There is slightly less fine detail but the overall result is better than I can get with LR + noise reduction. Thanks for the tip!

DNG files, RAW files and more - importing into Lightroom 3

I did state that this is the case if you are using Lightroom as your default converter. Manufacturers software should be optimised for their own raw files but in practice it is not likely to make much difference. You can always keep a proprietary raw backup in case you want to use the...

DNG files, RAW files and more - importing into Lightroom 3

If you are using Lightroom as your main Raw converter (and if not, why not!) then I would import all files to DNG, you will not lose any info/quality and the DNG format is likely to be around longer than some proprietary camera formats. Your jpeg files will remain as they are. Sidecar files are...

    SDHC Card

Most makes are just fine, I tend to use Kingston if I don't need 'fast' cards and never had a problem. Avoid Fuji maybe, I recently bought one and it takes twice as long to write raw files as my 'slower' Kingstons. There is no need to pay premium prices unless you are shooting fast, raw files...

Film Fun with film cameras (Image thread)

Nothing wrong with a bit of fun and nostalgia of course, but I still think compacts whether film or digital should be the main 'focus'. Anyway I've dug one out from the great Fuji DL Super Mini Zoom taken on Agfa Scala and chemically toned.

Film Fun with film cameras (Image thread)

At the risk of sounding too 'negative' why are we looking at Pentax 67 and Mamiya C3 images on a site called serious compacts - compact they certainly are not. I would also question the use of a Pentax 67 for family snaps, your decision of course, but it shows little of interest to members of...

    Additional Forums

I have no interest in video, but having worked as a stock photographer for over 20 years I might be interested in this. All depends on the level of participation and striking a fair balance between information given and received.

B&W Black & White, monotone and sepia

Taken with the G9 at ISO1600 to maximise noise, then sharpened up the noise to increase the effect. Looks rather like Tmax3200 film which I like. Don't know why everyone wants noise free sensors!

Thanks. I found this strap (Gordy's) great for carrying the camera in the hand in a hot city environment.

G1 deal at Park Cameras in UK

I could not resist! although this camera will be given to my daughter to take to art college in September, I will have a few weeks to use it and compare to my NX10. After a couple of days my impressions are:- Gi has better EVF, I can manually focus with this but not the NX10. In practical...

Can a small sensor really produce a decent picture?

Well for me smaller sensor compacts are finished, the small bag that I used to carry my G9 everywhere now houses my NX10 with 2 or even 3 lenses, far better quality, no issues for stock and better handling. The G9 (and I have produced stock images with it, but never convinced) is now relegated...

Samsung NX10 - Zoom or Prime

A few images from my recent NX10 only trip to France as promised. The file names have been truncated on upload so some lens info is missing (not quite sure how to do this correctly!). Just ask if you would like any more info. Still working through all the French images but very pleased with...

Samsung NX10 - Zoom or Prime

Hi, my own experience is that the 18-55 is softer than the 30 but can be sharpened up well in lightroom. The real surprise given some reviews was the 50-200, this lens is incredibly sharp even fully open. I have recently returned from a stock trip in France where I took only the nx10 and three...
