Panasonic LX5 no better than a joe average P&S camera?

You surely realize, however, that any/all ,jpeg shots are showing off the camera's PP skills are showing off what computers can do? Unless you're using film, there is no such thing as avoiding someone's PP skills, be it human or a silicon-based entity.

Panasonic LX5 no better than a joe average P&S camera?

Yup. Every photo I post has been modded in some manner, in LR. If one were to post straight RAW images, it's almost always just greyish 'meh'.

Panasonic LX5 no better than a joe average P&S camera?

So that's it? You're basing your entire statement on the content of this thread? LOL. OK. I dunno. I can make it take pretty good pics in low light. And that text is rather undefined, as 'lower lighting situation' isn't a specific term, and they didn't say that the ISO 12,800 shots would...

Panasonic LX5 no better than a joe average P&S camera?

Hmmm.... let's just say that I don't think the 'majority' of LX5 beauty shots are B&W; I've seen no data that would indicate that, and it runs counter to my experience. Here's some color (and I apologize, as I've posted these before) Bill and Ted's Excellent Departure by tanngrisnir3, on...

Thanks, BB. It hasn't gotten any real use since the GH2 showed up (and will be in Big Sur/Yosemite this weekend) but I love that little camera.

Panasonic LX5 no better than a joe average P&S camera?

    A. Ask yourself why you would even want to use those ISO levels in a camera like that. B. Keep in mind the old saying, "It's the driver, not the car". The LX5 is a certain kind of tool for certain kinds of shooting. If you think you the high ISO quality is a problem, you're either missing...

Woo-hoo! Just sold my second shot, ever. I reworked an old favorite of mine that I could never get right, but after having learned a bit more about PP and 'rediscovering' it, I posted it where an old friend saw it and immediately made an inquiry. San Emgidio Mountains Storm Break...

I've updated successfully, but haven't really noticed huge differences other than that the auto focus is MUCH faster. But then, I do most landscape, so it doesn't effect me much. Sigh.

    LR 3.4.1 Export Settings issue/question.....

About a week ago, on the advice of someone who thought the files I was exporting after post (as .jpegs) were too large, and thus took longer to upload and were not ideal in size to avoid possible online-theft, I changed the settings around in LR3 and have, ever since, got export results that...

I'm just extremely grateful, since I don't know what happened, that it left all of my prior photos in their RW2 form. It's just going to take FOREVER to go through them and recreate folders/subfolders. Sometimes I hate LR almost as much as I hate iTunes, and I hate iTunes.

    Panasonic Electronic viewfinder for LX5

And how, pray tell, has it worked out for you in intense daylight? I ask this because although I'm going to start using a Canon 7D shortly, I love my LX5 and still intend to use it frequently in places like Death Valley, where being able to see what one is shooting between the hours of, say...

    Panasonic Electronic viewfinder for LX5

It's good, not great, and if you take pics in very bright sunlight, like I've experienced at Death Valley, for example, you STILL have to cup your hand around your face to view the EVF image. That said, it's very useful for taking images of things above your head at severe vertical angles...
