1. Dear Guest,

Due to the expense and work involved in keeping several small websites updated, I will soon be merging FujiXspot.com, SeriousCompacts.com, LeicaPlace.com, and ForeverFilm.org. The final site name and destination are yet to be determined. I'm hopeful that the new site will be better for everyone involved than the sum of its parts. Please let me know in the forum or by private conversation if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions.

    All best,

Helios 85mm, too busy or appealing?

Wondering if anyone here is using the Helios 85mm f1.5 lens? I've seen those with M38 thread. There are times when I like the bokeh produced by that lens but there are times when it just looks too busy and not too appealing at all.

The M39 thread is for the SLR, not for the Russian rangefinders. You will need the correct adapter with an extension to allow focus on the M 240.

For about the same price (these days), I would go for a Canon 85/1.5 if you really want the speed. I am satisfied with the Nikkor 8.5cm F2, and a modified Jupiter-9. With the M 240- you would be able to correctly focus the Jupiter-9, and the Bokeh is very smooth.

    Hi Brian

Thanks for the info. Did not realized that. I will check out the Canon 85mm. Seems like most of the Jupiter are from Russian seller on ebay. hard to find one from the US.
