This is my first round of snapshots with the Nikkor 35/1.8 that I got from Johan at RFF.

We drove along the beach later afternoon and just before the fog/clouds covered up a starting sunset.

The lens is compact, and I like the look when matching it up with the M9.

While this vintage lens seems to be a favorite for B&W images, I find it great for color images too.

It was interesting to watch the changing horizon, as the clouds moved in. The park ranger told us that this was due to air passing over the gulf water.

I continued this morning my exploration of the M9+Nikkor combo with fog and fishing boats. I set the aperture to 4.0 so that with 1/1000 as shutter speed, I was able to get some sharp bird images. I am very pleased with how this lens paints in such weather.

Those are beautiful, and I love the muted colors of the older lens. This lens is sharp: i have it in S-Mount, and the "Little Brother" F2.5 in S-Mount and LTM. The F1.8 is a unique formula, the F2.5 lens is the same formula as the Leica Summaron.

It's also "uncommon" in Leica mount. One of the best, and last, Nikon RF lenses brought to the market.

    Thanks, Brian.
I bet that this lens is mostly used with B&F film.

The lens was not cheap, but I trust statistics, and when I read about users insisting to each other not to ever sell this lens, I made the move to get it.

I've used the Nikkor 3.5cm F2.5 on the M Monochrom, was able to fit a series V adapter to it, used a Yellow filter. Was very nice.

The 35/1.8 in Nikon S mount seems to be impossible to be used with an Amedeo adapter, unless I am wrong here.

The rear element and fixture hits the RF cam of the Leica when used with an Amedeo adapter. It would have to be modified, I have not tried. I'm sure some filing could make it work- as Nikon was able to do it with your version.

So I spent an extra $1000 for the ltm mount.
At least the lens can be sold later on if needed.

    raid and Brian,

Very nice images. I enjoyed viewing this thread.

Brian wrote that he had the "Little Brother" F2.5. To that I offer that I have the "Littlest Brother," the 3.5 in LTM. I've not used it yet as there are many in line ahead of it. Do either of you, or anyone else, have experience with the 35/3.5? My guess is that it will be somewhat low contrast, but probably decent with B&W. Phrased differently, should I bump it up in line for use with my Epson R-D1?

    Thanks.

    Ed B.

    Hi Ed,
I have used neither lens, but my guess is that the Nikkor 35/2.5 is close to the Summaron 2.8, while the 35/3.5 Nikkor is close to the Summaron 35/3.5. Now, the Summaron 35/2.8 is viewed as one of Leica's best 35mm lenses for B&W film.

The 35/3.5 is a copy of the 35/3.5 Elmar, 4 element in 3 groups. It is somewhat soft wide-open, better at F5.6. Low contrast, nice color rendition. I had a user copy in LTM, perfect glass. Should be good for B&W as well.

OK, so it is a little bit older than the Summaron 35/3.5.

I took some snapshots of the sunset over Pensacola Bay yesterday. I used ISO 160 and set the Nikkor to 4.0 (I think).

Gorgeous, deep color on those shots- I need to get out with the M9 soon. weather has been awful the past few weeks. I made an indexed pair of Polarizers to use on the 50/1.5 Nokton, but also have a 43mm Polarizer. Need to drop it in the case.

I did not use any filters here. This is just as the M9 processes the information on the sensor.
