I just received this lens today - I think it has the same optics as the LTM model but not sure, so I'm starting a new sample archive thread.

Easy to miss focus at f/1.5 with a moving boy:

Philip was still for me, but only for this split second:

These look really nice. I like the background bokeh. Any opinion how this lens compares to the Zeiss C Sonnar? Any focus shift issues with this new lens?

I haven't tried the C Sonnar. This lens is really nice though. Seems to be a good performer at all apertures, and I haven't noticed any focus shift.

I've read that it has the same optics, but different coatings- supposedly optimized more for digital. The biggest practical difference, close-focus to 0.7m.

I've neve noticed focus shift in my original LTM version. Focus shift is attributable mainly to spherical aberration. Use of an aspherical surface is a good way to reduce focus shift. The other way- as the Canon 50/1.4 in FL and FD mount does- stretch out the optical path.

I don't have the LTM version anymore, but this lens seems noticeably smaller and lighter than I remember that one being.

Amin, the 2nd pic's rendering of bokeh came out nice from the Nokton. What do you think of this lens now?

Thanks, Dave. I love the lens. Rendering, sharpness, build, handling - all suit me very well.

Do you have the chrome (brass) or the black one? What do you think of the build quality?

I have the black one, and build quality seems excellent.

Amin, did you code the lens via the menu? And if so what did you choose?

I chose the pre-asph Summilux, which seems to work well.

It looks good! I enjoy my LTM Nokton.t uses 52mm filters, same as the Nikkor 10.5cm F2.5.
