Back on November 9th I fell onto my outstretched left hand. Two X Rays and two opinions said it wasn't broken, but would take about six weeks to heal.

Six weeks later it wasn't much better, but had improved. That and I had a big family vacation in Hawaii. I surfed, played 36 holes of golf and generally had a fantastic though slightly painful trip.

Coming home, it still wasn't any better so I went to hand specialist. Sure enough, fractured scaphoid and 2 months of complications.

Surgery was yesterday and it will probably be in a cast for about three months. At least the cast is only below the elbow, and the fingers on the left hand should be reasonably mobile in a week or three.

End result? Lots of pain right now and likely two or three weeks of small auto-focus cameras only. So, iPhone and Sony RX100m2 as backups to the excellent one-handed Leica X Vario, with the M Monochrom, M5 and Nikon Df enjoying some time off.

Damn, that sucks. Hope the cast comes off sooner than stated.

X Vario is great one-handed, and I should at least get use of fingers back soon for manual focus.
