This was my second B&W attempt with the X Vario, this time using the B&W High Contrast setting. My first attempt used the Natural setting, which was nice enough in some ways, but overall looked dull and wasn't easy to fix. f5.1, 1/10 sec. handheld, ISO 400. Even with burst shooting, I got only one successful frame out of 15, and since I used 'Auto' on both dials and ISO 400, the camera chose 1/10 second. I could have let the ISO float or set it manually to 1600 or better, but I try to use 400 as long as I can get away with it.

This one looks good- have you tried B&W conversion software? Silver-Efex came with the M Monochrom. I use it for the M8 files, allows a lot of post-processing on the Raw files. It is not expensive, you might want to look at it.

I haven't done that, but I will need to explore that before the M camera arrives.
